Founded in 1993, CUCS is an acclaimed human services provider who helps people rise from poverty, exit homelessness and be healthy. CUCS implements its missions by developing supportive housing facilities and purpose-built shelters and providing community-based mental health and social services throughout New York City. Additionally, CUCS’ provides mental health training services to human services providers to organizations nationwide. CUCS’ portfolio includes ownership of over 300 supportive housing units and 100 shelter beds to formerly homeless and homeless New Yorkers, another 300 supportive housing units and 110 shelter beds in development, as well as leased transitional housing facilities which shelter approximately 200 homeless residents.
About the Role and Core Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Senior Real Estate Project Manager is the management (from construction to conversion) of existing development projects, and, with respect to new projects, and assisting the Agency’s COO with the expansion of its development portfolio.
Additionally, with respect to new projects, the Senior Real Estate Project Manager is responsible for management and coordination of development projects from inception to completion:
- Site evaluation and sourcing,
- Selection and management of design and construction professionals, assisting the CFO and COO with financing the project (including completing financing-related applications, developing and managing project budgets, conducting project financial projections\project proformas, and coordinating communication with lenders, investors and oversight agencies),
- Managing with the Agency’s General Counsel closings (acquisition, construction, and conversion),
- Construction management, and
- Coordination with the Agency’s Property Manager and Program teams to ensure smooth lease-up or site opening and transition to the applicable Asset Management team.
The job qualification for the Senior Real Estate Project Manager position are as follows:
- Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, public administration, public policy, architecture, engineering, finance or a related field, or bachelor’s degree in any field plus 7-10 years in real estate project management or affordable housing development;
- 5-7 years of real estate project management experience;
- Outstanding project management skills, including a high capacity for multi-tasking and the ability and willingness to take full ownership of projects and work with wide discretion toward completion;
- Excellent written, analytical, quantitative, organization and communication skills;
- Proficiency of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Project Management Applications (e.g., Procore, Wryke, etc.);
- A tolerance for risk; and
- Creative problem solver.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with publicly funded housing\affordable housing preferred.
