We have a new opportunity for a Senior Resident Engineer for a large client in San Francisco. The Senior Resident Engineer will manage various Public Works projects throughout San Francisco, particularly the San Francisco Department of Public Works (SFPW) involving paving and utilities tasks. Our need is immediate and we are looking for a candidate who is currently local to the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work Full-Time In-Person in San Francisco.
Job Description
The Senior Resident Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of field construction and assures that contracts are completed up to safety and quality standards according to schedule.
Daily duties:
- Supervise the administration of complex construction projects--particularly for paving and utility projects.
- Review and determine if materials furnished and work performed are acceptable for job task completion.
- Prepare and review contract supplemental agreements.
- Verify and document that all work is in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Monitor and document all contractor activities.
- Supervise all material testing and documentation.
- Review payment requests and authorizations.
- Provide project progress tracking to ensure schedule compliance.
- Monitor that the project is meeting construction budget and scope requirements.
- Field office operations.
- Supervise and direct other Resident Engineers, Inspectors, and Field Office personnel.
- Manage all project pre-construction, partnering and public relations requirements.
- Document and coordinate all project plans changes, RFI’s and final redline as-builts.
- Direct and document all project meetings and stakeholder coordination.
- Perform all other related duties, as required.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of verifiable professional engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer registration (PE) in California.
- Experience working with public works and other public agency clients on civil infrastructure and utilities work.
- Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, planning, or landscape architecture.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and owners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budget, schedule, and construction quality assurance/control teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel.
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco.
