The Senior Software Engineer is a subject matter expert in full-stack software engineering at HGE. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions across the entire software stack. You will ship software regularly. This role also provides recommendations to address challenges while working in an agile environment with product owners. This position is full-time and remote.

Your Responsibilities:

• Use your full-stack engineering experience to craft intelligent solutions that include front-end and back-end systems.
• Facilitate collaboration with other developers, product owners, and designers
• Deliver testable, maintainable, and high-quality code and take operational responsibility for the components that you develop

Basic Qualifications:

• Deep experience with Typescript/JavaScript and NodeJS, including at least one client-side framework, preferably React, and back-end frameworks such as Nest JS, Mongoose, Bull MQ, and TypeORM.
• Strong software testing principles. You should have experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Experience with CSS fundamentals.
• Experience with front-end build pipelines, including tools such as Webpack and Babel
• Familiarity with designing REST APIs
• Familiarity with building and operating production software in the cloud at scale, preferably AWS or Azure
• Exposure to CI/CD automation such as CircleCI
• Experience designing fault-tolerant and scalable systems (comfortable w/ distributed systems, networking, DNS, CDNs, etc.)
• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging
• Experience working in containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Agile development practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Python and frameworks such as Alembic and SQL-Alchemy
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Postgre, and Redis
• A bachelor's degree in a technical area with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience
