Position Role Type:

The Scrum Master (SM) will be responsible for leading a team of 7-12 multi-disciplined engineers through full life cycle development. The Scrum Master supports the Release Train Engineer by maintaining and ensuring status for all prioritized and committed work is completed on schedule by removing blockers and holding the team accountable.

The Scrum Master, is the member of the Agile team, ideally collocated, who serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Development Team (ADT) helping educate the team in scrum practices, ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed. Charged with removing identified impediments and fostering a team environment for high-performing team, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collect, Aggregate, and Analyze Agile Development Team (ADT) level metrics
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ADT using various tools, such as the JIRA boards, Confluence pages, and other information radiators
  • Facilitate Sprint Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which helps execute the ARTs Vision, Roadmap, and Backlogs.
  • Provide ADT capacity information to the Release Train Engineer to facilitate the PI planning event
  • Track the execution of stories and features
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the Daily Stand-Ups
  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating story and feature estimation by teams
  • Coach team members in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Help manage risks and dependencies
  • Escalate and track impediments
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
  • Work with Release Train Engineer, Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure execution alignment
  • Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline
  • Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle
  • Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails
  • Facilitate Sprint Demos and participate in System Demos
  • Drive relentless improvement via Retrospective workshops; assess the agility level of the ADT and help them improve
  • Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices

Security Clearance:
An Active and In-Scope Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance

Required Skills:

  • Experience as a Scrum Master or equivalent leadership experience
  • Hands-on Software Developer
  • Experience with agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with Satellite Ground Systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills: the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Desired Skills:

  • Security+ certification
  • SAFe 5 certification (Scrum Master)
  • At least 5 years’ experience developing software using Java
  • A solid foundation in Linux or UNIX

Required Education and Experience:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
