French & Parrello Associates is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer between 2 to 5 years of experience to join our Water & Wastewater team. The individual will report to our Wall Township, NJ Headquarters, however depending upon where the individual resides, FPA will consider other home office options including: Newark, Hackettstown or Camden, NJ, New York City, NY, or Bethlehem, PA.

We offer the opportunity to work on a vast array of infrastructure projects from facilities planning, to design, permitting and regulatory compliance, support with funding assistance, bid phase services, through provision of engineering services during construction. Projects may be for municipalities, local and regional utility authorities, water and sewer utilities, or private utility clients.

The range of services on the water side may include master planning studies, rate studies, hydraulic modeling, water supply including hydrogeological studies, transmission, storage, distribution, and treatment and may include lead service line evaluation and replacement programs as well as treatment innovations to deal with emerging contaminants such as PFAS.

On the wastewater side the range of service may include regional watershed and wastewater management planning, collection and conveyance systems inclusive of pump stations and force mains, odor and corrosion control, as well as treatment facilities and outfalls.

The individual will assist with site reconnaissance, layout, computations, drawing and engineering report preparation, analysis of water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects within a growing team environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • BS in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited, four-year college or university; Required.
  • Engineer-in-Training certificate obtained or in process; Required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (NJ, NY and/or PA) or ability to acquire PE through reciprocity; Preferred but not required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good moral character and keen focus on health and safety, ethics and technical excellence.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365, and familiar with Autodesk’s AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit (BIM), Esri’s ArcGIS and other standard engineering software.
  • Assist with preparation of construction documents, including plans and specification, and editing various types of engineering reports.
  • Under supervision, perform field work to document existing conditions, dimensions and gather other relevant information needed for design.
  • Perform construction administration services including shop drawings reviews and construction inspection from time to time for infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines required to deliver successful projects and work effectively in a team environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist other Senior Staff Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers with engineering tasks needed to plan, design and provide engineering services during construction for various types of infrastructure projects, with focus on utilities.
  • Under supervision of Project Engineers and Project Managers, ability to edit engineering reports, perform due-diligence and condition assessments on existing water and sewer systems as well as other types of infrastructure.
  • Must possess the verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate and engage with peers and clients, work with project teams, and advance discussions with supervisors, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Must be responsive to supervisors, and team members via cell phone, email, and telephonic meeting and/or chat software.
  • Regional and occasional out-of-state travel may be required.
  • Ability to work additional and/or non-standard office hours, as required.
