Position Details

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. This individual serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration, identifying methods, solutions, and providing project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to IT customers.

This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington overlooking the scenic Columbia River.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations by monitoring system performance, implementing system configuration, and performing system maintenance and repair.
• Develops new system and application implementation plans and plays an active role in implementation.
• Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
• Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
• Develops and coordinates projects to maximize benefits and minimize impacts to the organization. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for enterprise systems administration.
• Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning and uninterrupted power systems.
• Performs implementation activities as required.
• Performs troubleshooting as required.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (with area of study in Information Technology or related fields preferred) Note: Candidates without a bachelor’s degree who have 7+ years of progressive systems administration experience may also be considered for specific openings.
• 5+ years of experience supporting an enterprise server environment.
• Experience with enterprise layer 3 networking preferred; Cisco and Palo Alto experience a plus.
• Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) and virtualization technologies
• Microsoft domain administration, including Active Directory and Group Policy
• Server operating systems, including Windows Server and RHEL/Debian Linux
• Cloud services and infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory and Azure Virtualization
• SQL Familiarity (MSSQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
• Stays abreast of technology trends and industry best practices. Updates knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, professional organizations, and vendors.
• Develops and tracks well defined project plans, effectively managing projects that vary in size and complexity.
• Analytical and commits to an action after developing alternative options and considering resources, constraints, and company priorities.
