The Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of purpose-built computing solutions and is a member of the Systems Engineering department who are responsible for the planning and engineering of the organizations’ enterprise-wide corporate network infrastructure. This person ensures that corporate systems are operated and supported in a manner the meets the needs of WCS. Additionally, this person provides support for information security protection, risk reduction, and compliance of WCS computing systems and users.

Position Responsibilities

Direct:
Interface with departments, business units, and vendors to define, develop, implement, train, support, and maintain specific computing solutions that meet the needs of WCS using its computing environments and other platforms.
Define system requirements for new applications, projects, including capacity planning of hosts and storage systems.
Establish enterprise intellectual property categorization, storage, access, and collaboration solutions that integrate systems and data for internal staff and external entities.
Ensure compliance is being achieved and can be demonstrated with institutions, governments, and field programs.
Administer and manage the related components of the solutions computing environment including servers, storage, and supporting components for both on-premises and hosted platforms.
Develop user and systems documentation and assist with the preparation of training materials and other adoption methods.
Identify, evaluate, and install relevant new software releases, and system upgrades and patches.
Identify and participate in regular preventative maintenance and resolve any related problems.
Implement and manage business continuity policies and infrastructure.
Assist with information security with the primary goal of protecting the WCS computing environment.
Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of products and security tools related to authentication, access control, audit logs, physical security, backup and disaster recovery.
Maintain awareness of information security requirements.
Define, implement, and manage Change Management controls with change verification.
Assist with risk, vulnerability, and exposure assessments, working with 3rd party vendors as needed or required.
Manage user accounts database and security of enterprise applications.

General:
Conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
Contribute to systems and security recommendations for capital and operating budgets.
Integrate with the Helpdesk, Network and other IT staff in resolving user problems with applications as required.
Work with vendors and other third parties in fulfillment of objectives.
Provide project leadership for IT and related initiatives.
Be available on call for emergencies as needed.
Liaise with other business units within WCS.
Perform other IT duties as needed.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field
5+ years of experience in technology
Working effectively both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential

Work Conditions
Some physical labor may be required at times to handle computing equipment
Working nights and weekends will be occasionally required to meet deadlines
Some local, domestic and overseas travel may be required to work at other WCS locations or to meet with vendors, stakeholders, or other off-site personnel
Office is located at the Bronx Zoo facility

Salary Range

$90,000 - $110,000
