Position Summary
The Senior Vice President of Operations provides leadership for multiple transition projects, while actively supporting the business unit in areas of the Strategic Plan: People and Leadership, Operations Excellence and Client Satisfaction, Profitability and Marketplace Issues. This role is a broadly collaborative role requiring strong partnerships with the business unit leaders and the President. Duties/Responsibilities In conjunction with the President, he/she will develop, implement, drive, strengthen, and monitor the company’s short-term and long-term strategies, business plans, culture, deliverables, and overall goals.
Overall responsibility for the regional leaders operational performance, including complete profit and loss responsibility
Ensure that project teams meet performance expectations client service, budget, schedule and profitability
Develop and implement business unit vision and strategy and drive profitable growth in alignment with overall corporate strategy and goals
Build and align culture within business unit to effectively recruit, develop, engage and retain top talent
Foster teamwork and community across the business unit
Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with Branch’s policies and applicable laws Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
Champion for commitment to process adherence and continuous improvement
Performance Management of team members including annual performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and addressing complaints and resolving personnel problems
Consistently check in with project team members to ensure team expectations are understood, safety expectations are maintained, project quality goals are met and overall operational/financial project status is known.
Support Preconstruction with subcontractor solicitation, pre-qualification and subcontract negotiations
Review monthly owner project status reports, as required
Be the champion for exceptional safety management
Ensure a culture of high quality is maintained in delivery of our services and projects
Embody our core purpose and values
Assist in developing service models for competing nationally and in market-specific areas
Review and report quarterly client satisfaction results Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering or Business
15+ years of experience in the construction industry along with 10+ years of experience of business development and/or project management
5+ years of experience in a senior operations manager capacity
5+ years of experience in a P&L leadership capacity with involvement in capital and technical project execution
Experience driving strategic growth in P&L leadership capacity
Key market knowledge of commercial construction, including municipal, higher ed, K-12 and healthcare. Additional market experience is a bonus
Proven track record with large client program management, pursuit execution, and multidisciplinary team management.
Strong team-building skills
Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office, Accounting/Financial Reporting Software (experience with Vista, Adaptive & WIP Analytics a plus) Project Management Software (experience with Procore a plus), Bluebeam, and scheduling software
