Carolina International Trucks is currently hiring for 2nd shift Service Mechanics at our Columbia location. Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 12:00 am.

Responsibilities:

• Perform quality repairs and maintenance on all Heavy truck and diesel engines as outlined on repair order in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspections.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Complete major repairs within specified times.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair non-typical vehicle issues.
• Consult with service advisor about status of the vehicle repairs.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to all level of technicians.
• Accurately completes all paperwork including repair information on work orders and keeping detailed records on all work performed.
• Ability to organize the work presented and plan for the highest efficiency and productivity in the performance of all job functions.
• Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are properly working.
• Consistently maintains training and education as assigned by management and participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and recommend improvements for shop safety.
• Display work ethic it takes to ensure each job is done efficiently and completely.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company's insurance carrier.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment while providing a superior customer service experience.
• Must be neat in appearance, punctual, and a team player.
• A vocational/technical school graduate with a minimum of 3 years technical experience or a minimum of 5 years of field experience in the medium-/heavy-duty truck industry is preferred.
• Own a complete set of hand tools.
• Must be physically capable of performing the duties of technician per dealer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications
• Good organizational skills & strong attention to detail.
• CDL or ability to acquire.
• Working knowledge of standard diagnostic software.

Pay: $18.00 - $38.00 per hour
