Summary
This position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and repair of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment of Finney County. This position is under the general supervision of the Fleet Division Manager and Director of Public Works and is responsible for overseeing other public works employees to ensure that equipment and vehicles continue to work effectively and efficiently.

Supervises and trains the employees within the division
- Trains all employees in various mechanic diagnostic and repair procedures/processes including the equipment/tools needed to complete the jobs.
- Manages and oversees all division workers during diagnostic, repair, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintains knowledge on up-to-date troubleshooting, diagnostic, and training procedures.
- Oversees coaching, interviewing, hiring, training, work assignments, performance review, and complaint resolution processes for division.

Maintains and Repairs Finney County equipment and vehicles
- Performs routine to complex repairs and maintenance processes, including preventative maintenance, to all county equipment and vehicles
- Conduct all operational and driving tests for equipment and vehicles
- Complete welding and fabrication as needed for maintenance and repairs
- Maintains all services records for all county equipment and vehicles including equipment cost and repair records, includes all departments.

Administration and Costing
- Oversees inventory procedures to ensure proper levels are maintained and parts are being ordered, locates and purchases needed equipment.
- Directs ordering procedures and manages all orders requiring quotes.
- Estimates cost effectiveness of repair methods based on cost and time.
- Reviews budget to maintain fiscal responsibility.
Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient in diagnostic software such as Texa Laptop, Caterpillar Electronic Technician, and Fuel Master.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to use welding equipment and tools to fabricate or repair equipment/vehicles/
- Ability to interpret repair manuals and instructions.
- Wide knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance procedures for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles/equipment.
- Knowledge of use of mechanic shop tools and equipment, including diagnostic equipment.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Ability to obtain CPR and First aid certifications
- Ability to obtain Defensive driving certificate
- Electric over hydraulic certification
- Airbrake certification, preferred
- A/C certification, preferred
- Occasional overtime
- Occasional travel
- Subject to call out
- Regular and reliable attendance onsite at work location
