We are currently searching for a Shop Supervisor to join our team.
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient operations of the Gaylord shop technicians. This position will oversee the Gaylord shop independently while working with the Diesel Mechanic Manager to improve on and initiate department policies and procedures. The Shop Supervisor must possess substantial knowledge in diesel engine repair and will be responsible for leading technicians in removing, disassembling, replacing, cleaning, and/or reassembling components. This position will act as a mentor and coach, developing the team and increasing employee value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create weekly schedules for shop technicians
- Assist in providing superior leadership for the team through quality training, clear direction, guidance, organization, listening skills, high standards, and responsiveness
- Supervise Gaylord shop team members and help to lead the culture
- Oversee maintenance shop inventory for Gaylord shop to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained
- Work on equipment that requires a high level of skill - hydraulics, electrical, fabrication, welding, and power-train troubleshooting - using modern maintenance practices and technologies
- Hold daily safety and planning meetings
- Act as a role model, following all safety and compliance regulations including DOT, OSHA, State, and Federal
- Contributes to the development of processes and procedures
- Encourage the department, and self, to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area
