Job description

  • Sign Installer Crew Leaders work at client job sites all over the country. They report to the office or installation hub nearest them, and then go out on the road for extended periods.
  • Acts as immediate supervisor to Sign Installer Helpers. Assists Installation Management with operating the department.
  • Responsible for installing signs, awnings, banners and other related products for our national clients at the specific job site.
  • Performing maintenance and repairs to existing signs, awnings, banners and other related products for our national clients at the specific job site.
  • Drives Company vehicles (Trucks and trailers) to remote job sites.
  • Utilizes hand tools, power tools and other specialized equipment to perform assembly/installation operations.

Including but not limited to:

  • Overseeing crew production, safety and individual employee performance.
  • Ensuring that all signs, awnings, banners and other related products are properly and safely installed or serviced in the manner required by the applicable building codes and regulations and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Interacting with clients, customers, contractors, land lords and the general public on a regular basis while working at job sites.
  • Transporting signs, awnings, banners and other related products to the job site by driving a Company vehicle to and from the job site.
  • Driving Company vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner ? at all times, regardless of the reason or the length of time ? as required by government and Company regulations.
  • Attaching signs, awnings, banners and other related products to surfaces including, but not limited to: façades, walls, pylons, monument bases, and rooftops.
  • Working at heights ? up to, approximately, eighty feet (80?) (Or higher) through the use of ladders, extending, truck-mounted booms and other lifts.
  • Utilizing a variety of attachment methods, hardware and tools to properly secure signs, awnings, banners, etc. to surfaces.
  • Performing basic wiring attachments and hook ups to ensure proper electrical connectivity.
  • Testing illuminated signs, awnings, etc. to ensure that they are operating properly and within acceptable guidelines.
  • Assembling various sign components, as needed.
  • Attaching pre-cut channel letters to raceways, walls, façades, etc. as needed.
  • Installing supports, mountings, brackets or braces, as needed, to ensure that the signs and awnings are installed in a safe and proper manner.
  • Using various measuring tools (I.e. rulers and/or tape measures) to ensure that each sign component is installed in the proper and correct manner and location.
  • Tracking the supply inventory on the trucks, and advising the Crew Leader and/or Installation Department of supply needs.
  • Complying with the established Regulations established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • Completing a Driver?s Daily Log Book (Log Book) in accordance with Company and FMCSA guidelines. Adhering to the established Hours of Service (HOS) regulations established by the FMCSA. Turning completed Log Books into the Installation Department in a timely manner as required by Company guidelines.
  • Completing a Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) each, and every, day in which he/she drives/operates a Company Vehicle. DVIR?s are completed for both the truck and trailer the employee is operating. Turning completed DVIR?s into the Installation Department in a timely manner as required by Company guidelines.
  • Maintaining a copy of his/her Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated Medical card on his/her person at all times while working.
  • Submitting to routine and non-routine inspections by DOT personnel and/or other law enforcement personnel on a regular basis when operating a Company vehicle.
  • Handling Company-provided travel cash and/or credit cards in the proper manner as required by Company regulations.
  • Submitting completed work orders and completion photographs to the Installation and Account management teams to document completed work assignments.
  • Utilizing a common shipping carrier (I.e. UPS) to submit hard copies of completed work orders, Log Books, DVIR?s, receipts, etc. to the Installation Department on a weekly basis ? or more often, as needed.
  • Working and performing all job duties in a safe and appropriate manner in adherence with Company policies and established work practices.
  • Maintaining work area and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment, as needed.
  • Completing tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Once the employee has completed his/her 180 day orientation period he/she may be called upon assist the Crew Leader and/or Department Head in the training new employees.
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by management.
