Social Media Coordinator Job Description

As a member of the Branding and Events team, the Social Media Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of marketing content strategy, advertising strategy, content creation, and execution on social media channels for ICON Collective College of Music. These channels include TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and others. The Social Media Coordinator is expected to plan and manage these and future channels in accordance with ICON Collective’s high standard of excellence when serving student and public communities.

The Social Media Coordinator will own each step in the social media marketing process, including ideation, research, strategy, budgeting, creation, execution, engagement, and reporting, with adherence to company policy, best practices, and guidance from the Director of Marketing. This cross-functional position requires close collaboration with various members of ICON Collective’s staff and faculty, including those managing Art Direction, Videography, Events, Admissions, and Education.

The goal of the Social Media Coordinator is to effectively convert social media users into actionable leads for ICON Collective’s Admissions Department. The main metrics for success in the Social Media Coordinator position are increases in lead generation, lead conversion, partnership/influencer opportunities, social media followers, content engagement, and post frequency.

The Social Media Coordinator will focus their efforts on aligning per-channel strategies with ICON Collective’s demographics, with special attention paid to developing content and conversion strategies for TikTok and emerging platforms. Success in this role will depend on the effective curation of partnerships and influencer relationships to penetrate non-owned channels in addition to the development of ICON’s existing owned channels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Promote a positive image of ICON Collective that conforms to the school's mission through the creation and execution of an ongoing social media marketing strategy.

2. Exercise effective creative and technical decision-making during the planning and daily maintenance of active and future social media channels.

3. Develop conversion-oriented strategy plans to implement unique content per social media channel.

4. Analyze content strategy plans for artistic, technical, time, and material resource requirements.

5. Prepare and maintain budgets for social media advertising.

6. Manage day-to-day content creation and operations for each active social media channel via effective channel management and scheduling tools.

7. Engage daily with social media audiences to promote brand affinity, convert leads, and identify customer service opportunities.

8. Collaborate at all steps with the Branding and Events team to identify social media communication opportunities and generate relevant copy, photo, and video content.

9. Diversify ICON Collective’s social media channel content with strategic creative proposals.

10. Track and report on the effectiveness of social media content performance, channel growth, lead generation, and lead conversion.

11. Identify and establish new social media channels and channel management tools as future technological opportunities arise.

12. Foresee, address, and mitigate any potential social media-related risks to students, guests, staff, and the ICON brand.

13. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

14. Remain competent and current through self-directed professional research, developing contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.

15. Contribute to the overall success of the Branding and Events Department by sharing in the strategizing process and performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
At least three years of responsible professional experience in social media planning/execution is required and must include knowledge of best practices, trends, principles, techniques, and equipment involved in social media coordination per channel. Working knowledge of Apple computers, Google workplace services, and project management software is preferred. Active use of personal social media channels with shareable portfolios of both professional and personal content is preferred.

SKILLS
Creative and innovative skills combined with a practical mindset are required. Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills are required. Effective organizational abilities are required. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

EFFORT
This position involves on- and off-site content creation requiring regular transportation of equipment without assistance. A working vehicle is required. The scope of the job frequently requires attendance of evening and/or weekend activities. Occasional travel for projects, workshops, seminars and other school events is required.

SUPERVISION
The Social Media Coordinator is supervised by the Director of Marketing, however the Social Media Coordinator exercises judgment and discretion in planning, organizing, and directing assigned projects within general guidelines and objectives, working closely with departmental staff.
