The Y’s Youth Safety and Violence Prevention program (YSVP) is a comprehensive, trauma- informed approach to violence prevention that looks at past exposure to trauma as a main driver of future dangerous behaviors. Our programs are designed to help our region’s most vulnerable young people become leaders in their own communities.


The Social Services Director is responsible for the execution, operation, and administration of all community-based mental and behavioral programs. Integrates value concepts, and maintains high quality, dynamic, and viable programs and membership. Recruits and trains high quality, competent team members to maintain top-level programs, including youth safety violence prevention. Assists Executive Director of YSVP with partnerships, programs, services, and processes that support the Association’s Community Investment and Social Responsibility Department. Responsible for leading and managing innovative approaches to a variety of operational business initiatives, special projects, challenges, and ongoing partnerships as continuous improvement of the Youth Safety and Violence Prevention Initiative.


The budget for this role is $75,000 annually


Scope of Responsibilities:


Operations Management
  • Oversees the administration of all community-based programs and daily operations to ensure we are attracting and
    retaining enrollment.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting and collaboration with the Research & Evaluation team for measurement and impact.
    Motivates many kinds of direct reports and cross-functional team members; creates a climate in which people want to do their best; empowers others to operate within established standards; invites input and shares ownership and visibility
  • Complete comprehensive intake assessments, treatment planning, promoting participant progress with goals, individual,
    couples, family, or group therapy
  • Address the consequences of trauma and improve the health outcomes of people who have lived through it, using a
    “trauma-informed” approach to facilitating healing. Provide clinical services to YSVP program participants, staff, and
    mentors
  • Teaches staff, participants and their families how to recognize the signs of trauma in individuals
  • Ensures that all risk management standards are established and strictly enforced to ensure the safety and well-being of
    our staff, participants and/or residents in the facility
  • Screening youth who are seen under YSVP using validated Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the Strengths and
  • Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) or other indicated trauma screening measures including the school based programming
    participants
  • Provides leadership to program launches and new program development in collaboration with the Membership,
    Childcare, Programs and Camps
  • Takes an active role in the community, including involvement in events, committees, and organizations.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of contacts in the community with business and civic leaders, interpreting the work of the YMCA
  • Supports the mission and strategic plan of the YMCA with other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Team Management
  • Provides professional development to team members to enhance staff learning, career development and operational
    effectiveness. Facilitates all-staff meetings and in-services. Provides staff with development and training opportunities on
    a monthly basis
  • Identifies, manages and motivates a high-performing team that accomplishes program objectives. Hires, onboards and
    trains team members and provides ongoing training and development in accordance with program standards. Ensures
    staff are compliant with required trainings and certifications
  • Recruits, supervises and manages the performance of staff and volunteers in collaboration with the leadership team.
    Establishes specific measurable performance standards for staff and communicates those expectations to staff through
    various platforms. Monitors and evaluates team goals and performance standards. Evaluates team members and provides coaching and intervention, as necessary
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops team members to optimize performance
