The Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the positions of Social Services Specialist 1 in the Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Unit (CRRU). This position is located at the DFCS office in Whitfield County, Georgia. The CRRU Case Manager (CM) is responsible for recruiting, screening, training, and maintaining top quality foster and foster to adopt homes for the county. The CM conducts information sessions for interested foster families, in home visits to assess for safety, coordinates and trains new foster parents through the IMPACT program, as well as working closely with foster care to find the least restrictive placement for children entering care. In addition, they work within their region to raise awareness of foster care issues, create supports for families and work a rotating on call schedule to assure timely assistance with placing emergency entries into the foster care system. The CRRU CM will complete IMPACT, SAFE and all general and ongoing training as required. JOIN OUR TEAM!!!
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position has designated special non-negotiable entry salary.Bachelor’s degree special entry salary is $40,387.99Master’s degree in a behavioral science special entry salary is $43,926.79Pay Grade: GUnder general supervision, the Social Services Specialist 1 provides investigative and comprehensive case management for a caseload involving child/adult abuse or neglect. Makes immediate and follow-up actions for at risk clients in need of protective services and/or placement.Conduct monthly information sessions for interested foster parents.Assess, screen and complete home studies to submit to the regional SSA.Establish training for existing foster homes to maintain their status.Complete yearly evaluations on time, and quarterly in home face to face visits with all assigned foster homes.Have monthly contact with all foster parents and assist in finding placement for children entering care.Complete IMPACT classes and write assessments in the SAFE system for new homes.Work with community partners to develop new supports for foster families.Complete all time sheets, reports, and data requests timely.Ongoing assessment of safety in current foster homes, as well as completing corrective actions for homes when needed.Routinely serves on after-hours on-call duty.Embraces ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver's license, and an acceptable driving history record.Note: Applicants must pass the standard agency testing protocol for the position in which they are hired to maintain the position.Although agency employees are authorized to telework temporarily, employees are subject to be called into the office as needed.
