Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Software Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to join our team. HTI is developing industry-leading products, and at the forefront of Positive Train Control. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who has demonstrated attention to detail and flexibility; can work well individually; works well with others; and is willing to learn to contribute to his or her team. Expertise in all languages and technologies listed below is not required; we expect that you will learn quickly upon joining the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain moderately complex to very complex software in Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, and other languages.
- Follow HTI's coding standards, development methodologies, and release processes.

Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager in Missoula, MT.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Supervises QC Inspectors and coordinates with project management to facilitate inspections, audits, and construction surveillance necessary to verify performance to codes, standards, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensures that the project is adequately staffed with qualified inspection and test personnel.
- Ensures that the project team is trained in accordance with project procedures and monitors training effectiveness.
- Develops, implements, and maintains applicable quality procedures to meet assigned project goals.
- Ensures the effective implementation of the quality plan in the areas of assigned responsibility and ensures that the appropriate materials and equipment are available for inspection and testing.
- Reviews and approves project documents to ensure that the appropriate elements of the quality program have been addressed and determines the extent and applicability of the quality program to any special process areas.
- Ensures project quality plan is implemented and followed
- Actively interact with field operation personnel on project site to ensure all quality requirements are understood/built according to said requirements.
- Ensures proper processing of project documents and records.
- Administers and maintains project audit program.
- Manages subcontractor quality.
- Monitors and tracks corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitors and performs project training as needed.
- Facilitates calibration control process.
- Performs inspections and surveillance.
- Manages document control system.
- Ensures compliance to contract specification
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- All other duties as assigned
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel throughout the state of Montana is required.
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent field experience
- Minimum of 5 years managing quality control programs
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in railroad signal construction preferred.
- Certified Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) with Corps of Engineers preferred.
- Familiar with the Three-Phase Program of inspection.
- Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
- Must be able to work in a construction environment.
- Weekend work may be necessary.
- Must be willing to work outdoors.
- Must be a team leader.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills required.
- Advanced degree or training is preferred.

- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Qualifications:
- Ability to implement and test desktop, server, and web software.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- Some exposure to software engineering tools, including version control, debuggers, emulators.
- Some exposure to SQL and databases required; proficiency with databases and NoSQL experience a plus.
- Ability to absorb complex requirements, propose solutions, and evaluate other solutions.
- Ability to work and discuss at multiple levels of abstraction.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate as part of a team and develop strong working relationships.
- Ability to balance design and technical constraints.
- Willingness to explain technical decisions and work in an environment of continuous feedback.
- Experience with development in virtual machine or container environments a plus; develop experience a plus.
