Job Description:
Select suppliers and parts from suppliers based upon quality, delivery, risk, and cost factors. Utilize the proper tools to justify sourcing strategies and collaborate with cross functional partners to ensure strategies are aligned. Ensure model year transitions are executed with minimal obsolescence and ensure the supply chain is set up for successful handoff to Purchasing for production buying. Closely monitor and track all open orders to support prototype builds. Ensure all purchased part master data is accurately entered and sustained in ERP system allowing for efficient MRP runs for all Production Buyers. Assisting with supplier order management and planning processes by submitting forecast, open order reports and in some cases purchase orders. Other reporting activities within Purchasing will also be relevant to this role. Track tooling located at supplier locations, verify if Supplier or Airstream owned. Determine tooling end of life and if tooling will support planned volume. Determine if new tooling is required, budget for tooling and submit capital as required.
Scope of Work:
- Cultivate a positive culture built on expectations and accountability.
- Proactively establishing supply base exceeding continuity, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Improving master data input to ERP system.
- Creating cost savings through value creation.
- Phasing in new parts and minimizing obsolescence.
- Coordinate supplier tooling activities.
Specific tasks:
- Full utilization of total cost of ownership sourcing tool ensuring best supplier is selected based upon quality, delivery, risk, cost, etc.
- Submit RFQ’s to new and existing suppliers.
- Sourcing new parts with new and or existing suppliers.
- Place orders for prototype parts.
- Adherence to THOR Purchasing Policies and procedures
- Purchasing model year coordinator:
- Tracking NPL
- Tracking critical parts
- Ensure prototype units have material available
- Ensure pilot parts are ordered via MRP
- Establishing purchasing master data set up on new parts. Incl material pricing.
- Ensuring revision levels match with drawing and PO.
- Administer purchasing contracts:
- TPP&P
- Supplier quality agreements (if applicable)
- Commercial contracts (if applicable)
- Purchased parts sourced and ready for production buying.
- Collaborating with Engineering to ensure new model year alignment
- Collaborating with Engineering and Purchasing to ensure master data set up is properly administered, especially unit of measure calculations.
- Responsible for minimizing “design scrap”, referred to scrap or obsolescence through proper model year coordination.
- Support Purchasing department with reporting activities, such activities may include:
- Forecast submittal to suppliers.
- Open order submittal to suppliers.
- Scorecard submittal to suppliers.
- Supplier tooling coordination:
- Determine condition of tooling.
- Determine owner of tooling.
- Determine tooling end of life or if volume will be supported.
- Develop tooling budgets and submit required capital if applicable.
- Purchasing model year coordinator:
Requirements:
- Proven working experience in lean manufacturing environments
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data
- Data driven, solution minded
- Problem solver, entrepreneurial spirit.
- Proficient in MS Office, intermediate to advanced excel capabilities.
- Prior Purchasing experience of minimum 3 years, BS degree preferred in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering but not required.
