JOB DESCRIPTION
CONSTRUCTION PRACTICE

Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.

DESCRIPITON

As part of the Project Management Team, The Space Planning Analyst will coordinate with our Client Project Managers in various departments in relation to facilities improvements and space utilization. This position will report to the client’s site in Leesburg.

This position requires knowledge and enthusiasm for research, data compilation, public policy and governmental regulations, urban design and planning involving communities, infrastructure, land development, water, transportation, aviation or similar sectors. Under direct supervision, assist planners, designers, engineers, scientists and other professionals within Michael Baker. You will be part of the team that drives cross-function operational change, through understanding of the facilities projects, communicating effectively while supporting continuity, space planning, and providing a superior customer experience.

The position performs research along with assisting with production in a multi-task environment. Must have a team spirit and can-do attitude. Solid writing, communication, technical analysis, computer and field research skills are essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a positive working relationship with end users to understand specific space needs of various facilities.
  • Gathers field data from site visits.
  • Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares or requisitions graphic and narrative reports on data.
  • Analyzes data to determine arrangements for land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial and community uses.
  • Researches governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community and military facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide urban development and renewal.
  • Reviews and evaluates environmental impact reports applying to specified private and public planning projects and programs.
  • Provide direction to a variety of roles in supporting physical space changes and administration.
  • Provide close interaction at the onset of a project request to ensure that end user expectations are clearly understood and incorporated during the design phase prior to beginning construction.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations; interprets federal and state changes in code or regulations to implement necessary procedural changes.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or related discipline.
  • Have 1-3 years of project management planning and/or process improvement plan implementation.
  • Prior experience in capital facilities management, capital budget planning and program management is desired.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $56,886 - $118,527. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
