The Opportunity:
The Special Education Program Specialist will support Beacon Day School on providing effective educational programs for all students with autism and related developmental disabilities. This person will work closely with the Beacon Day School Leadership Team to ensure consistency in the area of academic curriculum, contracts, school events, state testing and IEP meetings to attain student’s and organizational goals. Candidate must be able to travel between La Palma and Riverside sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all curriculum are aligned with school districts’ and CDE requirements;
- Supervises and manages education specialists and education specialist interns in their professional development;
- Assists in maintaining state accreditation;
- Applies California Core Curricular standards and maintains instructional materials to reflect common core;
- Assumes responsibility in all duties regarding state testing for students as required;
- Attends scheduled IEP meetings, and act as Beacon Day School’s Administrator;
- Collaborates and communicates in a professional manner with the Executive management and Leadership team;
- Attends strategic and operational planning meetings and committees;
- Works closely with the Executive management team and the Leadership team on developing and implementing school curriculum standards and procedures for each grade level;
- Provide in-service and on-going trainings on curriculum and teaching strategies as related to Beacon Day School’s philosophy and values;
- Attend professional development opportunities to maintain Beacon Day School’s commitment to the highest standard in educational care including the latest technology in academic instruction;
- Ensures all instructional curriculum and standards are evidence-based;
- Review and reconcile all district contracts including IEPs, ISAs, and Master contracts to ensure compliance;
- Maintain flexibility and perform on-site administrative duties to meet Beacon Day School’s changing needs;
- Maintain effective, efficient, and consistent communication with the Executive management team;
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time by the CEO or members of the executive management team.
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in the related studies is required;
- Five (5) plus years of teaching experience in special education field is preferred;
- Must possess moderate to severe credentials, or mild to moderate with an Autism Authorization;
- Administrative credential is highly desirable;

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
