NEWPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLSNEWPORT, RHODE ISLANDANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY 2022/23POSITION: Special Education Teacher @ Pell Elementary School (1 year only/ 2 positions)GENERAL DUTIES: To devise and implement programs for students who have identified disabilities which prevent them from learning through traditional methods.REPORTS TO: Principal and Director of Special EducationQUALIFICATIONS: 1.Must hold a valid RI Certificate in Elementary/Middle Spec. Ed Teacher, grades K-8.2.Be Highly Qualified as required by federal regulations under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).3.Demonstrate knowledge of teaching strategies that will address the unique needs of identified students with special needs.4.Ability to know and utilize technology and communication devices in the teaching and learning process.5.Demonstrate ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, teaching experience, and the interview process.6.Demonstrate knowledge and experience in implementing Early Childhood Standards.7.Bilingual preferred.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Meet childrens specific learning profiles, and social needs of students;2.Develops specific individualized goals and objectives to address students at their emotional level;3.Progress monitor each child in order to differentiate and support academic and social learning;4.Progress monitor each child at their level to develop standards-based goals and objectives which address the academic and social needs of the student;5. Develops standards-based Individual Education Programs, progress reports, pre-tests and post-tests of students academic, social;and communication skills;6. Uses a wide range of teaching materials, technology and various approaches to learning;7.
