The Special Event Host will be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising parties, and events as assigned, while creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide information about birthday parties, both written and verbal.
• Sets up and cleans up birthday parties.
• Prepare appropriate number of “goodie bags” for each party.
• Hosts birthday parties and leads activities for children.
• Assist party participants with check in and ensure guests are satisfied with their
• visit.
• Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency situation; completes
• necessary paperwork and notifies the appropriate professional staff member.
• Assists with the general maintenance/upkeep of party areas.
• Enforces all rules and regulations promptly and professionally; notifies the appropriate
• professional on duty staff member of inappropriate behavior of facility users.
• Order food as needed.
• Be pleasant and cheerful during the party.
• Must attend all mandatory meetings and training as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience working with children is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to react to emergency situations within the policies and guidelines of the YMCA and in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and making sound decisions within the guidelines of the YMCA.
• Ability to communicate with a wide variety of members and guests in a professional manner, displaying tact and diplomacy when needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, ability, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to perform activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
