Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews, negotiates, and drafts subaward agreement with appropriate sponsor flow-down terms, and aligns with university policies and procedures. Liaises with appropriate university offices on ancillary reviews to ensure subaward terms and conditions. Ensures compliance and regulatory requirements for the subrecepient entities are identified in outgoing agreements and resolves any pending information directly with the subrecipients. The SPO will have signatory authority.
- Mentors and serves as the subject matter expert and first level of escalation for the Subaward Analysts. Drafts and regularly updates the SOP for subaward management. Monitors subaward metrics, works with other entities to ensure a timely response, and facilitates necessary communications to subawardees, principal investigators, and management when applicable.
- Works in partnership with OSP award management and school research administration teams to launch complex projects and coordinate efforts for large and/or cross-disciplinary awards. Collaborates with the Education and Training Unit to identify training needs and disseminates and host trainings.
- Maintains expert knowledge of the GW processes, procedures, and policies related to sponsored projects. Maintains expert-level knowledge of the information systems related to subawards. Serves as a business process owner for subaward/subcontracting manual/procedures to include training program staff and identifying and implementing process improvements
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 7 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Familiarity with award grants and contract document elements including scope and terms and conditions.
- Experience with principles, practices, procedures, and regulations related to Federal and non-Federal sponsored research in an academic setting.
- Working knowledge of compliance areas that affect sponsored research such as Export Control, Human Subjects Research, Animal Research, and Conflicts of Interest.
- Advanced knowledge on 2 CFR Part 200 and the administrative requirements, cost principles, and audit requirements for federal awards.
- Advanced knowledge of standard contractual terms and conditions both non-federal and federal and how they impact award lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workloads of multiple schools or units.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrates willingness to learn and share new ideas.
