Sports, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator
Appleton Branch

The Sports, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator will plan, implement, and supervise a variety of high yield activities and targeted programs focused on athletics, health, fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship for youth ages 6-18. Responsible for daily programs that will focus on developing fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social skills through the coordination of field trips, sport leagues, fitness center and other daily programs.
Roles and Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee the administration of the Physical Education programs and activities that support the Youth.
• Plan, develop and implement recreational sports activities at the clubhouse to engage youth in healthy physical fitness activities and to develop long term fitness habits.
• Use athletics to engage youth in a process of continuous growth through tracking and building athletic skill and physical fitness
• Develop youth understanding and practice of good sportsmanship and teamwork through competition and direct instruction
• Establish Clubhouse program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
• Oversee the provision of the day-to-day Physical Education program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
• Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop sportsmanship, teamwork and skills in Physical Education.
• Demonstrate leadership to assure good conduct, safety, and development of members.
• Help youth discover their passions and steer them into structured programs
• Ensure the evaluation of Physical Education programs on a continual basis and ensure the Physical Education programs respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
• Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted
• Manage record keeping and reporting asit it relates to sports, fitness and recreation, including managing and maintaining sports leagues

Qualifications (majority combination of the following)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Development, Sports Management, or related field.
• Three years’ experience in facilitation, developing and implementing programs for youth and higher risk youth
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire
• The ability to exude confidence and maintain control of a safe and positive youth development environment.
• The ability to work independently and efficiently
• The ability to supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and interns.
• The ability and desire to work with youth age 6 to 18 in a variety of environments, including one-to-one, small group, and large group settings.
• The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Advanced knowledge of some or all the following: child and adolescent development, behavior management techniques, principles of effective youth development programming, and CPR/First Aid.
