Job description
As a Sr AWS DevOps Engineer, your tasks may vary day-to-day but primarily focus on best-of-class support for internet applications, including technical optimization and configuration. eCivis is hosted at AWS, and we are actively building our capabilities. You will be front and center in this endeavor.
  • Core AWS concepts such as S3, RDS and QuickSight
  • Core AWS security and auditing capabilities such as IAM, Security Groups, NACLs, GuardDuty, Inspector, CloudTrail, AWS Config, etc.
  • DevOps Concepts such as infrastructure-as-code, configuration management and tooling using Chef, Jenkins, and Ansible, continuous integration, deployment, and continuous delivery pipelines and life cycles using Jenkins, CodeDeploy, etc.
In addition, significant custom support activities need to occur on our SaaS software regularly. You will act as the POC for these support activities. The ideal candidate will be a fantastic communicator who can work directly with our customers to identify and meet data requirements. You are a self-motivated individual with experience in various tools for cloud-based development.

What You’ll Do
  • Troubleshoot: Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to meet our customers' needs and provide typical project and system/customer support: planning, coordinating, troubleshooting, problem resolution, product evaluation, and documentation
  • Consult: Participate in client consulting sessions to understand client challenges, technical needs, and business requirements
  • Collaborate: Engage with different internal organization teams as needed and participate in customer communication during critical events
  • Ticket Master: With guidance from and in collaboration with senior technical staff and Solution Architects, deliver projects tasks and sprint tickets to clients (ex: CI/CD pipeline, disaster recovery, configuration management, containerization, and other scripted automation) leveraging tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Crack Codes: Work on critical, highly complex customer problems that may span multiple services
  • Update: Provide responsible, timely, detailed status of progress and expectations
  • Steward Systems: Actively perform kernel-level system tuning and can handle additional System Administration tasks as defined
  • Secure the Base: Be familiar with, and adhere to security and best practice standards
  • On Call Business Hours: Participates in an on-call rotation coverage during business hours across the cloud and an on-premises data center environment with different applications, acting as a resource for teammates with less experience
  • On Call After Hours: Participate in an after-hours (inclusive of weekends) on-call rotation for escalations
Who You Are

Education & Experience:
  • AWS Professional (Architect and/or DevOps) Certification
  • Minimum 1-3 years of System Administration experience including work with ReSTful , APIs, and microservices.
  • Experience in the implementation, management, and administration of operational systems, tools, and processes
  • Experience working with external vendors and consulting engagements
  • Additional AWS certifications a plus (Specialty/Professional)
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Powershell, Ruby, Python. Extra points for a background in ColdFusion.
  • Experience with Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, IIS, and varnish
  • Experience managing MySQL and/or different SQL Servers
  • Experience building and administering LAMP, RoR, Java, and/or ASP.NET web application environments
  • Experience with SSO
  • Experience with DNS and LDAP
Skills:
  • Analytical skills to assist in the resolution of complex issues that may be time sensitive
  • Ability to provide high-level support for technical clients
  • Ability to estimate effort to complete tasks
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, document, and manage activities
  • Experienced problem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary – a sense of accountability and sound personal judgment
  • Excellent oral/written communication and organization skills
  • Passion for technology and continuous education
  • Proficiency in configuration management and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, and Puppet
  • Familiarity with GIT
  • Ability to work natively in a mixed Windows/Linux environment and can fully comprehend hybrid architectures
  • Understanding of AWS Command-Line Interfaces and APIs
Location: This role is 100% remote. Work from anywhere in the US and Canada within a Central Time Zone! Candidates must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
