Performant has an immediate opening for a Sr. Data Warehouse Architect. We are looking for a technically savvy, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, strategic thinker who is interested in an opportunity to fast-track our organizations move to modern cloud technologies.
Governs and delivers the design of client data ingestion and technical architecture for the data procurement into cloud data warehouse platform. Enforcing data warehouse best practices and standards. Responsible for development, integration, administration, and evolution of the data warehouse and ETL processing frameworks. Developing an overall roadmap for data warehouse to support current and future corporate requirements using pattern-based approach.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides technical assistance to facilitate the company’s Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities and architectural solutions for the enterprise data platform.

  • Works with business owners to design scalable solutions to solve the needs of the business and technical functions.

  • Architecting, designing, developing, troubleshooting, and modifying data warehouse based ETL’s and structures to procure into a data platform solution.

  • Develops and maintains Business Intelligence Standards.

  • Acts as subject matter expert.

  • Provides guidance, direction, training, and support to co-workers and team members for best architecture approach using WhereScape Automation and Snowflake Data Cloud Platform.

  • Communicates with subject-matter experts regarding source systems. Provides strategic technology direction and architecture to ensure required level of functionality and performance, and to manage risk, improve reliability; ensures compliance with architecture standards and audit requirements

  • Ensures quality of deliverables, sets development standards in areas of code quality, test coverage, monitoring, and logging

  • Owns the data warehouse automation system design and implementation. Designs and develops large, complex processes that meeting business needs for data ingestion, usage and implementation for reporting or batch processing purposes.

  • Works with business process owners to develop reporting requirements

  • Researches and analyzes problems; determines alternative solutions and creates action steps to solve the problem; thinks and acts quickly and effectively in a variety of situations

  • Evolves data models to meet new and changing business requirements

  • Designs logical and physical data models for informational and operational systems

  • Works with business to develop data mart models, design specifications, and metadata documentation

  • Participates in data rationalization activities

  • Schedules and participates in the data model / enterprise architecture reviews

  • Serves as a technical expert on in-house business intelligence/reporting tool solutions including SSRS, SSIS, ThoughtSpot (Main focus)

  • Evangelizes and provides support for cloud implementation and usage of Snowflake Data Platform and WhereScape RED/3D Automation usage

  • Supports organizational decision-making by turning disparate data into concise and actionable information

  • Optimizes and maintains existing BI functionality while designing and deploying new solutions

  • Pursues continuous improvement of data quality, standardization of data management processes, efficiency, and quality of service

  • Creates and maintains data in meta data repository

  • Trains process owners to leverage self-service reporting tools and build reports themselves using ThoughtSpot Cloud.

  • Operates under minimal supervisor to deliver results aligned with business goals, given guidance in the form of high-level objectives

  • Telework in adherence with Company policies and requirements.

  • Required Skills and Knowledge:

    Expert knowledge of ETL techniques and Structured Query Language (SQL) - Must have the ability to write complex, highly optimized queries across large volumes of data.
    Fluency with appropriate tools including: SnowSql , Snowflake web interface (classic and snowsight), WhereScape RED , WhereScape 3D, SSIS, SQL Server
    Excellent understanding of Snowflake Internals and integration of Snowflake with other data processing and reporting technologies
    Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL / ELT frameworks and data orchestration pipelines.
    Experience working with large Batch files and highly normalized OLTP systems as sources systems.
    Technical expertise in enterprise-class data warehouse solutions and services, including advanced skills in areas such as:
    Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques (Kimball, 3NF, Star Schema, Dimension modeling, Data Marts, Operational Data Stores, Data Vault 2.0 a plus)
  • Demonstrated skills with WhereScape RED / 3D / Data Vault Express automation tools for SQL Server or Snowflake target destinations.

  • Ability to design and implement a fully operational solution on Snowflake Data Warehouse (see details in Experience section below).

  • Great presentation and communication skills, both written and verbally

  • Ability to problem solve and able to convert the requirements to data architecture design

  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Completion of Teleworker Agreement upon hire, and adherence to the Agreement (and related policies and procedures) including, but not limited to: able to navigate computer and phone systems as a user to work remote independently using on-line resources, must have high-speed internet connectivity, appropriate workspace able to be compliant with HIPAA, safety & ergonomics, confidentiality, and dedicated work focus without distractions during work hours.



  • Physical Requirements
    **NOTE: Must be able to meet requirements for and perform work assignments in accordance with Company policies and expectations on a home remote basis (and must meet Performant remote-worker requirements). Basic office equipment required to perform remote work is provided by the company.
  • Job is performed in home-office setting (subject to Company approval and Teleworker Agreement), performs work at a desk or appropriate work surface, uses system and headset provided by the Company for calls, making outbound calls and answering inbound return calls using an office phone system; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.

  • Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed).

  • Sit/stand 8 or more hours per day; has the option to stand as needed while on calls; reach as needed to use office equipment.

  • Consistently viewing a computer screen and types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard to update accounts.

  • Consistently communicates on the phone as required primarily within the department and company and may include client contacts or other third-party depending on assignment with account holders, may dial manually when need or use dialer system; headset is also provided.

  • Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.

  • Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or a closely related field with coursework in technology-related subjects), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 8 - 10 years of recent, progressive experience and demonstrable technical expertise in enterprise-class data warehouse solutions and services, including advanced skills in areas such as
  • Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques (Kimball, 3NF, Star Schema, Dimension modeling, Data Marts, Operational Data Stores, Data Vault 2.0 a plus)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using WhereScape RED / 3D / Data Vault Express automation tools for SQL Server or Snowflake target destinations.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with the Snowflake Data Platform including :

  • Designing and implementing a fully operational solution on Snowflake Data Warehouse.

  • ELT / ETL concepts with design experience of architecting data flows into a Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Analytical Datastores in Snowflake.

  • Architecture using features such as Zero Copy Clone, Time Travel, User defined functions, JavaScript Stored Procedures, Task, Streams etc.

  • Managing security in Snowflake including the creation of custom Roles to control access to Data, Databases, Warehouses etc.

  • Designing Compute Clusters (Warehouse) in Snowflake for data loads, updates, department access and specific Business Intelligence platform access.
