is currently looking for talented and self-motivated Senior Structural Engineers to join our Engineering Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a great opportunity to get involved on challenging and interesting design projects for various industrial clients.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible in the design office for completing routine engineering and design tasks of the civil/structural area of assigned projects based on specific and detailed instructions from the assigned supervisor as to the required tasks and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Structural Engineering duties in the design, analysis, and preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications for use on the specific projects.
  • Perform and prepare structural designs and modifications of industrial structures and systems for one or multiple assigned projects.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and construction throughout all phases of planning, design, and construction.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed design sketches, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines to participate in development of plans, elevations, and basis of design documents to guide construction.
  • Apply basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in development of engineering design packages.
  • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.
  • Understand and apply applicable building codes and industry specific standards for engineering projects. Understand and be able to determine applicability of local, state, and international building codes.
  • Specify building materials such as concrete and steel for use in specific projects, and review supplier submittals and test reports from third-party laboratories.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement standards, or operating procedures.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provide Material Take Offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and engineering to determine a project’s economic feasibility.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.



Job Requirements:


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with focus in Structural Design Courses.
  • Minimum 7 years of Structural Engineering experience in the industrial industry.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, transparent, teamwork-based culture
  • Complex Problem Solving (STEM).
  • Critical Thinking.
  • Good Communication Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Judgment and Decision Making.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Occasional periods of travel to customer plants and construction sites.
  • May be required to work in an office, as well as in a power plant or industrial environment.
  • Must maintain active status in a drug and/or alcohol testing consortium
  • Full and ongoing compliance with and adherence to all vaccination requirements, as may be established by the company from time to time or by or for a particular job site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering discipline or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Proficient with Engineering and Computer Software (MS Office, AutoCAD, 2D &/or 3D CAD, BlueBeam, Revit, NavisWorks, STAAD, SPMats, Enercalc, LPile

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, video conferencing, email, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will work primarily in an office however may work in other environments including warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
