The Opportunity
Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the US Business Unit , seeking a Sr. Landman . Based in Denver, Colorado , this role will report directly to the Team Lead of Land and be an integral part of the US Business Unit Land Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Land Team for an active exploration and production company in the Powder River Basin . The successful candidate will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.
What you will do
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and prepare lease language with mineral owners for the acquisition of lease contracts and/or securing rights to the mineral interest.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and execute leasehold acquisitions or trades with various operators.
  • Proactively pursue opportunities to maximize value through acreage trades or other acquisition related transactions of producing and non-producing properties.
  • Work with attorneys in the construction and analysis of purchase and sale agreements as well as trade agreements.
  • Oversee and coordinate leasehold extensions and renewals within operating area.
  • Review title reports and oversee curative efforts to reduce risk associated with ownership and development of the minerals.
  • Negotiate Use Agreements and Right of Way contracts as required to support the operations team.
  • Analyze lease terms and provisions, and provide direction as necessary to secure amendments.
  • Coordinate and assist attorneys with legal actions such as missing heir petitions and partitions.
  • Understand the regulatory framework of operating jurisdiction and testify as needed in regulatory hearings.
  • On a weekly basis, communicate and coordinate with other departments to manage changing priorities for drilling. Maintain ongoing collaboration and partnership to help identify risks and improve efficiency.
  • Provide assistance, expertise, and professionally respond to both internal and external inquires. Help the team resolve more challenging questions or issues.
What you will bring
  • 7-10 years industry experience within the US and specifically the Rocky Mountain Region
  • Unconventional (specifically shale) and conventional experience
  • Highly organized, results oriented, not afraid to take initiative and have a willingness to learn
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to clearly present ideas in both formal and informal settings
  • Highly proficient with industry standard software applications
  • Bachelor of Science in a related field of study
What we offer
  • Competitive base salary and bonus
  • For this Colorado based role, the anticipated range for this opportunity is $135,000 - $165,000. Compensation will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge and abilities of the applicant
