Sr Manager/Assistant Director, Brand Marketing - Penguin Young Readers (Open to Remote)
Job description
The Penguin Young Readers marketing department is searching for a dynamic, collaborative and results-oriented Sr Manager/Assistant Director, Brand Marketing to oversee their preschool and young reader brands. This role will develop and implement marketing plans based on business trends, brand strategies, and sales distribution for key preschool and young reader brands including Eric Carle, Llama Llama, Roald Dahl, the Who Was series, Mad Libs and the tie-in publishing for the animated sensation Bluey, among others.
The Sr Manager/Assistant Director, Brand Marketing:
- Conceptualizes and implements marketing plans for key Penguin Young Reader brands including year long marketing campaigns, tentpole moments, and retail-based promotions
- Partners with sales department and other members of the marketing department to maximize opportunities for brands across all channels of marketing and sales distribution
- Oversees creation of the promotional materials to support these brands and strategies. This includes writing copy and working closely with the creative services department on execution
- Works closely with editorial, license holders, estates, key contacts and studios on brand marketing strategy
- Represents PYR in front of estates, studios, and key contacts to report on marketing efforts, obtain approvals, and create cross-promotions with wider brand partners
- Initiates partnership outreach and coordination, including brainstorming activations and promotional opportunities with outside partners
Your profile:
- The ideal candidate is an ambitious self-starter who thinks creatively, inclusively, and is detail-oriented
- Self-motivated, able to juggle multiple priorities, and can work independently as well as in a team
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and organization skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfortable with various Cloud communication technologies
- Light proofreading + design skills (such as Adobe Creative Suite) are a plus
- An enthusiasm for marketing and children’s publishing as a discipline, and an interest in children’s media trends
Requirements for Assistant Director, Brand Marketing:
- Minimum 5 years experience in trade book publishing or licensed merchandise; marketing experience preferred
- Ability to manage Brand Marketing assistant on day to day tasks and long term growth
- Ability to manage a promotional budget
- Ability to build successful professional relationships
- Willing to project and people manage
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Creative thinking is critical
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Requirements for Senior Manager, Brand Marketing:
- Minimum 4 years experience in trade book publishing or licensed merchandise; marketing experience preferred
- Ability to build successful professional relationships
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Ability to work creatively
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
The salary range at the Senior Manager level is $76,000-$80,000; the range at the Assistant Director level is $85,000-$90,000. Please submit a cover letter and resume to be considered for this opening.
