The Product Manager, Energy Segment, is a position leading a cross functional team responsible for the growth of the Viking Pump Energy product lines. Responsibilities include P&L management, product portfolio strategy and day-to-day execution of Viking’s Energy segment business. This cross functional role will include strategy development, product roadmap design, product development, pricing excellence and marketing through commercialization. This position will work closely with segment leadership, engineering, sales as well as operations and marketing as shared resources.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and direct products through the Product Life Cycle (NPD, PLM, ELP) to ensure a healthy product portfolio for Viking Pump Energy Group.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for assigned product lines to provide technical and commercial support to cross functional internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, and Operations teams to ensure continuous improvement efforts drive sustainable value proposition.
  • Collaborates with Sales, channel partners, and end users to ensure the product solution meets the Customer’s expectations and requirements.
  • Coordinates with Energy Segment Leadership to provide direction and priority setting for the segment’s Technical/R&D projects to align with established strategies.
  • Partner with Energy Segment Leaders to develop effective go to market strategies: – Ad’s, Videos, Literature, Field support tools and strategies.
  • Enhance products to address competitive threats, weakness or opportunities.
  • Conduct and oversee market intelligence and strategic positioning resources and activities.
  • Coordinate with the various functional groups to achieve order, delivery, sales, and profitability goals in order to ensure product line growth and viability.
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain group to evaluate and select vendor supplied parts, and align procurement activities to Energy Market demand.
  • Conducts annual strategic pricing activities to contribute to the next years AOP.
  • Conduct effective change management process and communication plans ensuring proper involvement of key stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders to help solve operational issues.
  • Improve employee engagement while driving performance accountability with direct reports through the utilization of servant leadership.
  • Builds team capability through effective employee relations, training, and development.
  • Apply analytical skills to assess data and identify opportunities to positively impact the organization.
  • Identify and apply key performance indicators to align operational capacity to customer demand.
  • Develops product concepts, specifications and development plans, and support production issues and disposition of discrepant parts on current product designs.
  • Manage other duties or projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Bachelor'science degree in Business or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5+years of experience in strategic marketing and product management.
  • Demonstrated capability understanding and distilling technology and market trends, and strategically planning future product opportunities.
  • Prior experience with success leading in a matrixed global organizational structure.
  • Proven track record in growth-focused Product Management, including product launch, commercialization, and strategic planning.
  • Strong change management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills and experience translating plans into commercially successful and profitable product offerings.
  • Strong financial acumen; able to understand impact of negotiation points on a business engagement.
  • Understanding of 80/20 process and implementation.
  • Up to 25% travel.
IDEAL CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in developing or commercializing products that serve the Energy production industries a plus.
  • Experience leading, developing and growing successful B2B product portfolios.
  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding leadership skills that bring out the best in the team and others through direct interaction and influence. Seen as a “go to” leader of the organization.
  • Strong customer/quality orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage customer and partner relationships.
  • Metrics and data driven with exceptional skill managing a team to achieve objectives based on sound commercial processes and through the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (inclusive of virtual business environments).
  • Executive presence, capacity to promote enthusiasm and gain support through strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong personal drive and motivation to reach new objectives and drive change.
  • Excellence in collaboration as a leader and a coach. The ability to draw out the best in the team and allow them to grow and succeed as the business achieves its goals.
  • Ability to thrive amidst change and ambiguity and help others with the same.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
  • Requires frequent contact with suppliers, customers, and all internal and external Viking personnel.
