  • Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Revit skills required.
  • Advanced Beginner to Intermediate SketchUp skills required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends, building/health codes, 3D visualization, and color/design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of owning project from start to finish – self-starter and self-directed

Amazon is seeking an innovative Sr. Store Designer responsible for the implementation and customization of brand design standards as they translate into physical stores. This position collaborates with internal and external cross-functional teams to manage the execution of multiple end-to-end projects at any given time. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and has a deep passion for innovative retail design. This is someone who possesses the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, take effective action without needing to know the total picture. We are looking for someone who is obsessed with creating world-class shopping experiences for our customers both at the micro and macro level. Outstanding project management and communication skills, both written and verbal are required.

Key job responsibilities
  • Translates design standards to support the tech functionality and brand of our Third-Party partners in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way.
  • Manages projects with high levels of complexity and ambiguity.
  • Writes program documents that drive new innovations, outline testing/analysis to inform design decisions, or define standards and processes.
  • Reviews site surveys to ensure jurisdictional and Third-Party partners requirements are incorporated into the design of the store.
  • Completes test fits and feasibility studies for potential locations.
  • Works with key internal and external stakeholders (including architecture firms) in the production of comprehensive design development packages. Cross-functional teams include but not limited to Pre-Construction, Construction, Concept Design, Launch, Operations, Category, Security, Safety and Tech. Cross-functional work includes aligning on category layout, ops inventory allocation, equipment layout coordination and implementing technical requirements.
  • Creates presentation packages as needed to communicate design.
  • Partners with Principle Solution Architect in design review meetings with cross-functional teams and senior leadership for new concepts.
  • Participates in the concept design process by contributing to the development of Design Intent Drawings.
  • Coordinates with Construction team on budget considerations and value engineering as required.
  • Creates comprehensive Schematic Design Packages.
  • Responsible for the quality of Design Development drawing from Third-Party partners for both new construction and renovation projects.
  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Consults with Third-Party external architectural firm in the completion of Construction Drawings.
  • Completes quality control and assurance checks on Construction Drawings for Third-Party partners.
  • Consults with Third-Party partners on jurisdictional reviews and required revisions to the Construction Drawings to obtain required permits.
  • Reviews and approves all submittals (including shop drawings) which require owner approval per the contract with general contractors.
  • Archives completed drawings, markups, and shop drawings.
  • Provides Construction Administrative support working closely with construction project managers, architectural firms, and other external stakeholders during construction of store projects.
  • Documents and disseminates information about key learnings and best practices to team members.
  • Performs pre-design, post-demo, and design walk-through site visits.
  • Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices preferred
  • InDesign and Photoshop experience.
The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $90,900-159,100/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
