General Purpose
The Senior Transformation Accountant is responsible for reviewing and maintaining accurate books and records for a portfolio of multi- family properties. This position provides guidance and support to our outsourcing partner who are responsible for the daily activity and preparation of monthly financial statements. The Senior Transformation Accountant ensures financial statements are issued timely, consistently and accurately in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and monitor performance of outsourcing partnership and assist in solving issues that may arise.
- Analytically review and interpret financial information, checking for accuracy and timely reporting. Items could include the review of journal entries, general ledgers, and monthly financial statement reconciliations.
- Ensure 3rd party payments, such as tax, insurance, and debt service payments are made timely and accurately.
- Supervise and review the daily work of the Junior Accountant.
- Review cash management process, including the weekly cash analysis report to ensure payments are made timely and accurately.
- Validate funds are in client account prior to selecting weekly payables.
- Act as primary contact for the client by answering questions, fulfilling requests for variance analysis, owner requested payments and special projects.
- Communicate, as necessary, with on-site staff to resolve Yardi issues and provide accounting support.
- Assist with yearend audits by overseeing the preparation of work papers, recording audit entries and verifying financials; preparing tax preparation worksheets; and coordinating audit requests between internal departments and the auditor.
- Complies with Company policies and procedures, accounting policies and procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited, four-year college or university
- Minimum 3 to 5 years accounting experience
- Real estate accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to follow established procedures
- Ability to read, understand, and analyze financial statements
- Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to learn accounting software
- Ability to set independent goals
- Capable of working independently
- Ability to complete tasks accurately, timely, and consistently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Strong organizational skills
