Robert Half has a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity available for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a reputable company. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. This West Springfield, Massachusetts based company is offering an opportunity that is multi-faceted and challenging in nature. - Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Maintain monthly payment schedules
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
- Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
- Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Be detailed, flexible, and organized
- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
- Corporate Tax Return experience
- Expertise in Partnership Tax Returns
- Partnership Taxation experience
- Foundational knowledge in Individual Tax Return
- Comprehensive knowledge of CorpTax Software
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Proficient in ERP systems
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
