Essential Functions:

Provide support to staff, faculty and administrators in the Computer Science Department.

Work with the External Relations Committee and assist in event planning and execution.

Oversee 2 student workers, and generate content for department and college webpages.

Work with Capstone faculty in finding sponsors for projects, answering sponsor questions, tracking finances and hosting capstone events. You will also help update capstone webpage information and advertisements as needed.

Assist faculty who oversee the weekly department seminar by creating advertisements, ordering refreshments, arranging travel for guest speakers and setting up and attending the seminar.

Support department faculty member who leads the CS Advisory Board with any needs including: travel arrangements, creating meetings, taking notes, brainstorming and recruitment.

Updating packets and fielding questions on the department internship course.

Assist department secretary with various events, projects and overseeing the department office upon her absence.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate degree or 2 years office/secretarial experience
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work well with students, staff and faculty

Preferred:

  • Bachelor degree
  • 3 years office/secretarial experience
  • Public or External Relations experience
Other Qualifications:
  • Excellent phone and public relations skills
  • Experience with and understanding of BYU policies and international programs helpful
  • Willingness to learn, ability to work as a team member and independently


Employee Class:
3/4 Time (28 hour)

Work Location: Provo Campus

Approximate Starting Salary: $14.86 - $18.79 per hour DOQ
