Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff EO/IR Sensors Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The selected candidate is responsible for the creation of a proposal, representing Mission Systems IPT, in coordination with the proposal capture manager and program manager. The selected candidate is responsible for: writing sections of a Technical Volume that require EO/IR Sensors content; developing and integrating sections of the program Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS); researching and leveraging past performance to develop and defend the Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for the Cost Volume. The selected candidate must be resourceful and highly motivated to participate in a fast paced dynamic capture campaign. Candidate will contribute to high-visibility activities and have opportunities to periodically demonstrate integrated capabilities to sector leadership and high value customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with peer Subsystem Architects within Mission Systems in tech volume development

  • Author sections of the volume that detail EOIR Sensors architecture, maintainability, integration to air vehicle, and overall sensor operations within Mission Systems Suite

  • Identify and review relevant past performance data in effort to develop sound BOEs

  • Develop Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), identify dependencies with other IPTs

  • Support development of the Cost Volume

  • Direct customer and supplier interaction to include regular presentations and detailed analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 14 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a Master's degree AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a PhD degree AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

  • Must have experience with EOIR Sensors design for IRST and Wide Area Search applications.

  • Must be interested in new business development and capture related activities.

  • Must have strong technical writing and communication skills, and willingness to be flexible in evolving program environments.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).

  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with developing and presenting technical documentation and briefings to the customer and organization leadership

  • Experience in new business development and proposal management, from capture planning to proposal delivery

  • Active in-scope Top Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (PAR)



Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
