Strategy Support Scientist

We are looking for a high-energy and scientifically talented individual to carry out assay design and proof of concept experiments in support of strategic needs of the company. The ideal candidate has strong experience with wetlab research in molecular diagnostics or genomics, strong experience with primer design and NGS bioinformatics, and strong ability to succinctly communicate experimental results through figures and written text. This is an individual contributor role and the successful candidate must work on-site full-time.

About Us:

NuProbe is a genomics company with proprietary technology to reduce the cost and improve the sensitivity of NGS by 100-fold. NuProbe's technologies have been featured in journals such as Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Chemistry, Cancer Discovery, and Nature Communications, in collaboration with collaborators from MD Anderson, Baylor College of Medicine, Thermo Fisher, Oxford Nanopore, and Microsoft Research.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Rapid development and initial validation of qPCR assays
• Use internal primer design software to construct and optimize NGS panels
• Perform NGS library preparation using internal proprietary methods
• Use and adapt internal bioinformatics software to generate reports on NGS data
• Prepare accurate and understandable figures and tables summarizing experimental results
• Communicate with members of the Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Innovation, and Engineering teams as needed to obtain technical support
• Communicate with Chief of Staff regarding rapidly evolving scientific needs

Qualifications:

• PhD. in bioengineering, molecular biology, or other related field
• Minimum 2 years experience in qPCR assay design and execution or NGS panel design and execution
• Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines
• Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate results in the forms of figures, tables, and written text.
• Ability and enthusiasm in learning multiple new experimental and bioinformatics methods.
• (preferred) Ability to build custom NGS data analysis pipelines.
