Gettysburg College is accepting applications for two full-time Student Accounts Customer Service Specialist positions in our Financial Services Office, one with a focus on customer service and cashiering and the other with a focus on billing and reconciliations. Gettysburg College is a highly selective, residential undergraduate liberal arts college, which enrolls approximately 2,400 students. The primary responsibilities of the Student Accounts Customer Service Specialist positions are to perform clerical accounting, customer service, and system transactions related to the maintenance, reconciliation and bill processing of student and special accounts. These positions provide customer service and collection activities related to their designated range of students via phone, email and in-person. Both positions report to the Assistant Director of Student Accounts.

Specific responsibilities of the Student Accounts Customer Service Specialist (Customer Service and Cashiering focus) include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting customers at the Student Accounts window and providing excellent customer service
  • Assisting customers with payments and questions regarding student accounts, responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person
  • Retrieving and responding to departmental mail
  • Posts refunds to student accounts
  • Posting payments and serving as a backup for the College Cashier
  • Maintaining working knowledge of the Federal Financial Aid Award process
  • Observing respect and confidentiality of student and parent information at all times

Specific responsibilities of the Student Accounts Customer Service Specialist (Billing and Reconciliation focus) include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with campus areas that place charges on student accounts
  • Uploading files provided by campus areas to student accounts
  • Reconciling campus-initiated charges applied to student accounts
  • Processing all student refunds and send to the Accounts Payable office for processing
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Federal Financial Aid Award process
  • Observing respect and confidentiality of student and parent information at all times

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of customer service experience in billing and collections is required for both positions. Previous experience uploading data files is highly desired for the Billing and Reconciliation-focused position. An Associate’s degree in accounting or a related business field and previous data entry experience are preferred, but not required. The successful candidates will have strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills. A demonstrated ability to positively interact with a wide range of individuals is required. Additionally, successful candidates should possess the following abilities: provide excellent customer service, handle confidential information in an appropriate manner, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication, and an ability to work harmoniously with a variety of individuals. Pay Rate: Up to $19.00 per hour, negotiable depending upon experience
