The Office of Student Programs within the UMKC School of Dentistry seeks a positive, collaborative, and organized individual to assist in coordinating multiple initiatives related to dental and dental hygiene pipeline programs and admission recruitment and processing.
The position will be responsible for coordinating three primary areas:
  • Admissions Recruitment and Processing
  • STAHR Scholars and Ambassadors Programs
  • Kuwait Dental Program.
Additional information about these responsibilities is provided below.
  • Dental Hygiene Admissions Recruitment and Processing – The School of Dentistry offers a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. Each fall thirty new students begin the program at the junior-level. This position will coordinate the recruitment, admissions, and matriculation processes for the program.
  • STAHR Scholars and Ambassadors Programs – The School of Dentistry collaborates with the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy to offer pipeline programs (STAHR Scholars) for high school and undergraduate students, from underrepresented populations, interested in healthcare careers. The purpose of these programs are to broaden interest in healthcare careers and prepare and strengthen participants dental school applications. These programs are funded by a grant from HRSA. This position is the primary coordinator of the dental tracks and is part of the STAHR Team coordinating all aspects of the programs.
  • Kuwait Dental Program – UMKC, UMKC School of Dentistry and the State of Kuwait have an affiliation agreement to support up to five students per year in their undergraduate and dental education. Students complete their pre-dental undergraduate studies and then matriculate to complete their dental education. This position manages the students’ academic and personal development, serves as a liaison to university departments and partners, and directs programming to support the students.
  • Additional Duties
    • Support the efforts of the Office of Student Programs, School of Dentistry and UMKC through involvement on current and new initiatives such as scholarships, graduation, alumni events, and other school wide initiatives.
    • Work at a high level with Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail
    • Serve as valuable partner and team member to the Office of Student Programs
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prevous experience in advising, recruiting, admissions, or related student services role in higher education.
  • Previous experience with online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas)
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and build strong relationsips with others
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail.

Full Time/Part Time

Full time, 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible staff position.

Salary

Up tp $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
