  • Utilize restorative practices vs. OSS/ISS/Early Lunch (Behavior Specialist)
  • Help with students struggling academically (Non- EC)
  • Assist with reward programs and celebrations
  • Individual and small group meetings to assist and motivate APEX students who are behind
  • Help with chronic absences by contacting parents and checking on students
  • Assist with parent contacts and meetings for students falling behind and at risk of dropping out
  • Assist students in classes as needed.
  • Monitor students during transitions from am arrival, pm dismissal, and lunch.
  • Support traditional high schools with interventions before Hallyburton referral


Responsibilities for this position encompass inclusion services to support academic and social-emotional needs, remediation services for academic support, connecting with students in crisis, assisting with testing, contacting parents, and ensuring behavior plans are in place and followed.

It would be necessary to stress that this position is NOT ISS. The goal is to increase student time and participation in the classroom, not the opposite.


In addition:

This position would be under the Behavior Support Services group umbrella and under the direction of that supervisor's team.


Help design and coach staff in implementing a behavior structure to address school-wide expectations and a school incentive/reward program.


Design and support staff in implementing attendance and behavior contracts for students.


Partner with Middle and High School Behavior Specialists to support student transitions


Support the School Social Worker in student attendance interventions and credit recovery plans.


Help model/monitor and coach restorative relationship practices between students and staff


Utilize Restorative Mediation practices to address the conflict between students and between students and staff.


Assist the School Social Worker and DLA in monitoring and supporting Apex's progress


Assist with parent contacts and meetings for students falling behind and at risk of dropping out.


Help provide support to improve transitions at Hallyburton Academy.


Support crisis prevention, intervention, and response for students


Partner with the IPG coach and School Social Worker to explore and connect students with vocational opportunities and community resources/mentors for life after high school.


Partner with School Social Worker in accessing needed resources and support for students (housing, food, mental health, etc.)


Work with middle school students 2/week in social skills development/Zones of Regulation training.
