Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for Subject Matter Expert 3 opportunities for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Location: Hybrid (TA-00, BLDG 787 & off-site remote)
Organization/Group: PMRC (HK000C)
Positions available: Two (2) (1 FT, 1 PT)

Education
Master’s degree in engineering, Science or Business Management. PhD degree preferred at this level. Twenty (20 years) of directly applicable experience in specialized technical field and is acknowledged as an expert in the specific area in question.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DOE 413.3b requirements.
  • Possess a background in Project Controls or Project Management and an advanced level of understanding of EVMS and project management principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring a diverse group of people together to achieve a common goal on complex technical problems requiring operational excellence, strong communication and relationship building skills.

Details of the position:
The Project Management Resource Center is seeking Subject Matter Expertise support in the area of Earned Value Management. SME should be knowledgeable of Earned Value Management, Project Controls and Project Management principles.

Duties
  • Manages and directs the daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high technology systems or projects
  • Renders expert opinions on engineering and technical issues, provides recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise.
  • Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance to project teams in delivering results on projects of complex, high-technology nature.
  • Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives.
  • Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to subordinates.
  • Provides leadership for the project team, coordinates with the functional organizations, and supervises senior personnel within the project organization.

Additional Qualifications
  • Propose options for EVMS fit for purpose approaches for line-item project where applicable.
  • Examine application of EVMS standards, including EIA-748 and DOE O 413.3B and LANL EVMS processes and procedures for consistency in application/execution
  • Provide and support implementation of fact-based findings with specific recommendations for improvements or actions.
  • Support Triad initiatives/benchmarking and best in class material to make project management improvements related to EVMS.
  • Ability to support the development and implementation of a tailoring strategy for capital line-item projects, that meets the certified EVMS and NNSA reporting requirements and that is consistent with LANL best practices in project reporting and project controls.
  • Provide support to develop and implement any findings or recommendations from PM-30 Review(s), to include consolidating institutional project management corrective actions to avoid duplication or conflicting recommendations and support to various organizations to ensure consistency in implementation and interpretation of end state solutions.
