The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.

The Supervisor of Food Services is responsible for ensuring that residents (up to 45 adults and 40 children) of The Center’s emergency shelter are served three nutritious meals daily. The Supervisor directs and organizes the activities of the kitchen and dining facilities to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, nutrition, safety, and sanitation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares daily meals and supervises cooking personnel (staff and volunteers) in meal preparation. Ensures healthy and nutritious meals are served in a safe and clean environment.

  • Manages kitchen costs to include food, beverage, labor, purchases/requisitions, food items and cleaning supplies. Coordinates and makes appropriate use of food donations.

  • Supervises kitchen-related activities and coordinates with Facilities staff, Volunteer Coordinator, and Program staff to support populations being served.

  • Maintains sanitation in kitchen and dining facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety codes.

  • Facilitates menu planning that meets the needs of the residents while working within budget requirements.

  • Builds community relationships with other food service agencies, donors, purveyors, etc.

  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures for daily operation of kitchen and dining room. Facilitates staff/volunteer meetings and trainings. Contributes to agency reports as needed.

  • Drives to GFS or local grocery store as needed for necessary supplies that cannot be delivered in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree. A minimum of 3 years as a cook or chef may be substituted for the degree.

  • Must be certified in food service through the ServSafe training with the Jefferson County Health Department.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements.

  • Must pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check, post-contingent of offer of employment.

  • Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.

The Center requires the basic round of COVID vaccinations and highly recommends boosters. The Center also requires all employees to wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet while working.
