Dematic is currently looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to join our growing Procurement Organization in our Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, Atlanta, GA, Salt Lake City, UT or Grand Rapids, MI locations. This is a critical role for Dematic, as the candidate will have the key purpose of onboarding new suppliers and targeting high-risk, high-opportunity suppliers and turning them into valuable world-class partners from which Dematic can increasingly rely upon. Given Dematic’s size, we are looking for someone to strategically and proactively understand our supply base, monitor their performance, understand the risks, choose KPI targets wisely, and lead select suppliers to necessary levels of excellence.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000-$140,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:
This is What You Will do in This Role:
  • Using lean supply chain (inventory, lead time) and manufacturing/performance excellence principles (lean, quality systems, visual factory management, 5S); streamlining and optimizing operations with the Dematic supplier base
  • Improve quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Leveraging the following groups to wisely assess, select and develop supplier partner candidates: Global Procurement, Supplier Quality Assurance , Materials Management, and Engineering.
  • Working with Key external stakeholders as required/necessary.
  • Driving Supply Base Performance Excellence
    • Drive supplier capability and continuous improvement Plans and Actions in support of QDICC goals (quality, delivery, innovation, cost, cash).
    • See the opportunity, define the plan, engage the partners, and lead to completion
  • Driving Supply Base Lean Excellence
    • Identify and lead special projects on a regional basis to reduce costs and drive towards a more nimble strategic supply base
    • Quality/system improvement, lean/waste elimination, lean/cycle time reduction, VFM, Kaizen, lead time reduction
  • Drive Supply Base Process Excellence
    • Support global category leads and managers in providing and executing common global supplier selection, onboarding & development processes
    • Manage common global supplier metrics and data reporting to support performance improvement targets
  • Enable cross-functional Influence and Execution
    • Partner with multiple Dematic functions to understand their requirements and/or strategic needs
    • Execute with strategic suppliers
What We are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Advanced coursework in Lean, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen and/or related CI tools
  • Six Sigma/Lean Blackbelt preferred
  • Technical certifications in Supplier Development or Supplier Quality preferred
  • Preferred 8+ years of direct experience in driving Supplier Development strategy.
  • Proven history of leading and/or supporting the execution of lean supply chain principles, with quantifiable benefits
  • Proven history of leading change management initiatives across various disciplines (both internally and externally)
  • Demonstrable project work in the areas of performance excellence, lean tranformation and/or capability improvement
  • Demonstrated past success in the area of trouble-shooting, whereas extremely complex problems within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas are solved
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to use hard data and metrics to develop business case and support recommendations
  • Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically
  • Passion for process excellence and continuous improvement
  • Ability to lead multi-stakeholder and multi-region special projects and initiatives
  • Strong social, leadership and communication. Leading, influencing and working through others

  • Ability to travel 50-60% or more to suppliers across North America (amount of travel fluctuates based on hire location)
  • Must live near a major international airport.
