- Deeply engaged in all facets of the procurement cycle for the entire division’s annual fuel and lube needs.
- Monitor daily macroeconomic trends impacting the price of crude oil, and its derivatives, to execute favorable fuel pricing decisions.
- Manage the value of fuel purchases by examining vessel capacity, usage rates, and fuel commodity prices.
- By working closely with the Director, you will define cost reduction objectives, implement negotiation strategies, identify solutions to meet/exceed business objectives, and facilitate new/beneficial sourcing projects through the full project lifecycle while managing/mitigating risk.
- Perform comprehensive analysis for assigned projects and identify business and product trends. Utilize financial analysis in the evaluation of vendor proposals for the fuel, grocery, and supply portion of the business.
- Identify continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
- Ability to create monthly, quarterly, and annual budget variance analysis reporting packages as well as additional ad hoc reports as needed.
- Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, vendors, and suppliers.
- Occasional travel to vessels, vendors, shipyards, or industry conferences (<5%).
- Perform on-call rotation ensuring coverage over holidays and weekends.
- Serve as a utility player who can provide support to the purchasing department as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of capital and futures markets. Ability to recognize market, refining, and supply nuances that impact daily decisions.
- Proven ability to make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions in a highly dynamic environment.
- Data analysis and metric competencies with the ability to interpret and apply findings.
- Working knowledge of line-haul vessel operations and geographical marine areas is preferred.
- A reliable, detail-oriented, results-driven team player. Comfortable being self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with minimal oversight.
- Strong customer service, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
