Supply Chain Specialist is a professional responsible for supporting MSD’s Supply Chain group. This position provides support for both Planning and Purchasing to ensure that all production can be met by updating leadtimes, order dates and order points/stocking levels.

  • Work with Purchasing to update purchasing information in ERP system to ensure updated delivery dates, leadtimes and other pertinent information.
  • Work with Purchasing to expedite late purchase orders which will require communicating with the supplier by e-mail and/or phone.
  • Work with research scientists, engineers, and purchasing to second source materials. Review all sole source materials and recommend a sourcing strategy.
  • Work with Planning and Purchasing to update and maintain ROPs and safety stocks of raw materials considering shelf-life requirements and space constraints.
  • Manage NCMRs and deviations for non-conforming materials, supplier issues or supplier change notifications.
  • Identify and share opportunities to optimize systems and processes in order to drive efficiencies in supporting Supply Chain workflows.
  • Managing manufacturing purchasing requirements including resolution on delivery timing and quantity.
  • Provide shortage reports for quick view of overall shortages per manufacturing group.
  • Performs other duties and tasks outside of primary role on occasion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, logistics or science related field or at least 4+ years’ experience in materials and planning management for production and/or manufacturing environments required.
  • Experience working within an ISO regulated environment. cGMP compliance experience a plus
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification a plus
  • A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration
  • Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment for limited decision making responsibilities
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of data
    • Effectively communicate production goals and expectations
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; specifically MS Excel
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding environment with changing priorities

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

  • There are aspects of the positions duties that require a person in this role to work at heights above four (4) feet on occasion
  • May be required to lift boxes up to 25lbs.
  • This position is performed in a traditional manufacturing office environment.
