Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, you will work with physicians and other medical staff to coordinate surgeries in the OBGYN Clinic. You will be responsible for coordinating activities of surgery scheduling as well as coordination of authorizations related to surgery and other diagnostic testing and office visit follow-up as indicated. You will also provide backup support to medical receptionists in performing appointment scheduling, pre-registration, patient reception, cash collection and other related duties.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated general knowledge of OB/GYN procedures and terminology
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of third party insurances, government programs and other insurance agencies for purposes of assigning financial class codes and obtaining any necessary authorizations
  • Ability to research medical diagnosis and procedure codes in CPT Code book and ICD-10_CM code book
  • Demonstrated computer skills including word-processing, use of spreadsheets and data entry
  • Ability to understand and correctly use technical terminology, correctly identify and extract data from hospital records, enter data on flow sheets or in computer and maintain study records
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Skill and experience in composing clear and understandable written memos and reports using correct grammar
  • Skill in communicating with patients, families and referring physicians with diplomacy
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, residents, research associates, fellows, students and staff, as well as outside granting agencies
  • Superior typing skills to prepare correspondence, reports and other written materials with speed and accuracy
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload and assignments, pressures of deadlines, and/or a heavy workload
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to department clinics, as assigned

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of University’s Electronic Medical Record System
  • Knowledge of UCLA School of Medicine and hospital nursing processes
  • Fluent in Spanish
