Job Summary and Qualifications
The Surgical Services Manager is responsible for the complete oversight of his/her unit. The Manager serves as liaison between staff and administrative personnel. They establish personnel qualification requirements and performs other personnel management tasks.
What you will do in this role:
- In this role you must demonstrate ability to manage multiples tasks and projects in a productive manner.
- You will demonstrate interdepartmental support and teamwork through a supportive and collaborative approach.
- Your role ensures staff compliance with policies and procedures, mandatory requirements, and licensure and certification requirements.
- You will meet mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives as listed in the Performance Management Plan.
- You will demonstrate ability to identify strategic management initiatives.
- You will communicate in a professional manner.
- Your role responds in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
- You will orient and monitor new employee’s departmental orientation and progress. Makes progressive assignments to ensure competence in all clinical categories. Identifies clinical preceptors for new staff and students.
- You will serve as a clinical resource to those assigned to the unit.
- You will demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills required and technology of the department employed in the care of patients on the unit.
- Your role assists Department Director in budget preparation.
- You will prepare written reports as requested by the Department Director.
- You will serve as a role model and demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients.
- You will provide direction and acts as resource to other members of the specialty team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care.
- You will be responsible for circulating cases as needed to surgical patients.
- You will collaborate with staff and Director to plan and implement high quality patient care.
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing or First Assistant program- Current Tennessee RN license or Certified First Assistant
- Associate Degree Required; Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree preferred
- Current ACLS certification or must be acquired within six months of hire
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Three to five years critical care clinical experience preferred
- Three to five years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role preferred
- Computer Skills required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- CPI required and kept current per hospital requirements
- Specialty certification preferred
