System Administrator (Level 2)
Job Description:
The system administrator level 2 performs duties on-site at Goodfellow, Air Force Base, Texas. Performs duties associated with installation, configuration and setup of desktop hardware or peripheral devices. Responds to user requests for assistance and provides advice or support to customers regarding hardware and software malfunctions or inadequacies in a manner that minimizes interruptions to the customer’s ability to carry out business activities. Administrators will plan, coordinate, and installs software applications and hardware peripherals on Windows, and Linux platforms. Configure and manage Exchange network mail services. Provides system administration and configuration of standard Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and specialized mission applications and software. Optimizes the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems. Provides installation, configuration and administration of network security devices such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls. Develops and maintains system administration standard operating procedures, technical guides, and instructions. Level 2 administrators will also perform the following actions when workload dictates: Creates and updates incidents management within a ticket tracking system with detailed incident and resolution information. Notifying appropriate personnel and customers (internal and external) upon issue resolution. Perform quality assurance call backs. Schedules, coordinates and tracks regular preventative maintenance inspections with maintenance work centers, notifying customers and affected users of scheduled events. Administrators will manage user accounts and passwords. Performs testing, troubleshoots, and corrects problems relative to interoperability of system components and applications programs to include security and software patches.
Specific Duties:
- Plan, coordinate, and install software applications and hardware peripherals on Windows and Linux platforms
- Provide system administration and configuration of standard Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and specialized mission applications and software.
- Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems.
- Ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems.
- Develop and maintain digital system administration standard operating procedure, technical guides, and instructions.
- Install, support, and maintain desktop computer and server operating systems, hardware, and software.
- Coordinates authorized service interruptions and outages with affected customers
- Respond to unexpected or unauthorized service interruptions and outages
- Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution
- Implement and ensure security preventive measures are fully functioning
- Monitor and enhance system performance
- Test operating system and software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes before they are applied to the operational systems.
- Add, remove, or update user account information.
- Set/reset user passwords.
- Establish individual user accounts (including e-mail)
- Respond to user requests for assistance and provide advice and support to customers regarding hardware and software malfunctions or inadequacies.
- Provides cradle to grave incident management for all TRG networks
- Perform hardware repair on identified server and client systems.
- Identify and resolve common software and hardware problems, questions, or situations.
- Dispatches to facilities or locations as needed to provide end user support
- Participate in the integration (planning, testing, and implementation) of new technologies
Qualifications:
- Possess a valid, current TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph prior to start of work
- Have at least three years’ experience as system administrator
- Possess at least one of the following IT certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security +CE, CND and SSCP
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Have knowledge with a minimum of three years’ experience in at least five of the following applications:
Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS)- Geospatial Product Library (GPL)
- ARCGIS
- Digital Mapping Applications
- MaaS360
- PHP or other scripting languages
- SQL
- PDQ
- Back-up Software
- CENTOS/Linux
- Active Directory Domains and Sites
- DHCP
- DNS
- Certificate Authority
Have no less than three years’ experience in at least four of the following:
Converged Infrastructure running multiple VMware vSphere, Horizon, and vRealize application suites for customer- Create, design, install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop baselines in support of customers Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
- Design, Configure, and Maintain Zero/thin-client architecture to include profile and security posture
- Implement and maintain security guidance from multiple agencies to maintain security posture for all devices/products related to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
- Create and maintain all documentation pertaining to the Virtual environment necessary to administer Virtual environment
- Perform patching of all components of Virtual environment
- Network Storage Management
