What does it mean to be a System Support Specialist with GLS? As a member of the Information Technology team, the System Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting assigned, proprietary GLS system components. This includes managing issues with the vendors of the various software as a service platforms that comprise the operational process(es).

How will you drive value within the organization?

  • Evaluate incoming requests for assistance from users escalated from Tier 1:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as quickly as possible
  • Coordinate testing related to production issue resolution and afterward develop proactive training related to the issues
  • Learn from and document solutions provided by vendors and upper tier resources to constantly reduce the need for escalation
  • Drive resolution of incidents and take preventative measures to avoid recurrence:
  • Determine impacts to workflows and the overall business
  • Develop detailed functional and technical descriptions of issues
  • Create knowledge base articles related to the servicing domain and train Tier 1 staff within that scope
  • Follow feature implementation schedule for monitoring of issues and training purposes
  • Support ongoing system maintenance work

What should you already know to be successful in this role?

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science or Information Systems or a related field is preferred)
  • Working knowledge of hardware, software, network, OS interaction required
  • Experience with Defi Solutions (formerly Sagent/Fiserv), VehicleLink 8, Bill Matrix “Biller”, and/or Fiserv preferred
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Skilled in providing customer service to technical and non-technical customers
  • Highly organized with superior troubleshooting and analytical ability
  • Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to rapid changes in the technical environment
  • Possess interpersonal skills: interact at all levels within the organization; build cross-functional partnerships across the business
  • Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stoop and kneel to install computer equipment
