JOB
The purpose of this position is to provide primary server, and system software support for all Town employees, provide backup support to network, telephones, and desktop computers. The list of essential functions below does not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent in this position.Designs, upgrades, and performs backup operations and ensures successful backups are created; monitors server systems; checks integrity of hardware resources, infrastructure security, systems, and processes; assists and provides additional technical support to helpdesk and other team members; and mentors and cross-trains other team members Troubleshoot, repairs, and recovers from hardware and software failures, outages, and disruptions; manages network firewalls; configures and installs web server security certificates Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Active Directory (AD) accounts, AD infrastructure, and Group Policies. Review and update policies based on changes in requirements. Applies server operating system patches and performs upgrades as required; upgrades and configures system software for departmental application systems; monitors data center environments and battery backup equipment; performs ongoing server level tasks and hardware upgrades; purchases and renews service contracts and warranties for servers, backup equipment and network storage; documents procedures, hardware inventory and virtual and physical environments Manage Microsoft 365 tenant, including management of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams Administration, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 licensing. Along with managing email security service operations. Manage mobile device management for mobile phones, tablets and non-domain joined systems. Configure new applications for deployment after approval. Configure, manage, and troubleshoot SAN, NAS and hyper converged storage. Advises and recommends in the areas of infrastructure design, capacity planning, and complex operational initiatives. Monitors server logs to view trends and anticipate future server/disk drive issues; configures new servers, both hosts and virtual servers to accommodate town requirements Manages server resources to ensure proper services are available as required by applications, and that unused resources are not wasting memory or CPU time. Ensures server loads, disk utilization, and CPU usage are balanced accordingly Designs and implements network servers; analyzes server configurations; implements virtual servers; provides after hours support for computer network outages and other IT related emergencies; documents procedures to server configurations; troubleshoots IT related issues in the department; manages the removal and storage of IT equipment town wide to be sold to the public; evaluates and recommends new software and equipment; monitors and analyzes network and server performance.Supervision ExercisedThis position acts as the technical lead with other TS staff as well as the supervision of Interns & Vendors accessing Town systems. Physical DemandsThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, with frequent standing or stooping and crawling. The employee uses equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.Work EnvironmentWork typically takes place in an office environment. Some remote office work is possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in information management, computer science or a related field is preferred plus four years of experience in computer applications, systems administration, or a related field.A combination of relevant education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.
