Summary
Provide network, system engineering, and support of all firm-wide infrastructure and server equipment, related operating systems, management tools, and main functionality during core business hours, scheduled maintenance periods, and after-hours support, as required. Primary technical engineering ownership and tier 2 support and management for products/technologies that encompass the network and systems, related operating systems, and functionality (Azure, Office365, Cabling, Routing/Switching hardware, UPS, Internet, Firewall, Windows Operating Systems, Windows Active Directory, protocols, Exchange, various management utilities, system patches/updates, server anti-virus, and enterprise backups). Participation and contribution in all technology projects and initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Technical, administrative, and tier 2 support of firmwide on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure and server equipment, related operating systems, management technologies, and industry/practice-specific systems
- Responsible for Azure topology, design, installation, maintenance, management, and upgrades
- Responsible for Azure VDI topology, design, installation, maintenance, management, and upgrades
- Responsible for on-prem topology/LAN design, installation, maintenance, management, and upgrades
- Responsible for Internet, firewall/proxy design, installation, maintenance, management, and upgrades
- Responsible for remote access design, installation, maintenance, management, and upgrades
- Responsible for network security and access
- Troubleshooting and resolution of network infrastructure problems, issues, and conflicts
- Manages warranty, service, and life cycle of all network infrastructure equipment
- Responsible for computer room/server design, installation, maintenance, and management
- Manages warranty, service, and life cycle of all server equipment
- Design, installation, maintenance and management of directory/domain schema, administrative structure, and functions
- Design, development, configuration, testing, maintenance, and updates of the firm’s network operating system standard build
- Design, development, configuration, testing, maintenance, and updates of the firm’s functional systems (messaging, database, document management, industry/practice applications, file/print and web technologies)
- Determine applicable network operating system extension utilities and integrated software
- Troubleshooting and resolution of network operating system and functional system problems, issues, and conflicts
- Responsible for UPS design, installation, maintenance, and management
- Building and maintaining of a network/system lab for testing and integration of technologies
- Oversees all network and server hardware assets and maintains inventory of deployed, lab, reserved and retired equipment
- Manages and establishes operational maintenance downtime for network and systems
- Ensures network and system uptime, high availability, and scalability
- Prepares time and cost estimates for related project needs
- Liaison for applicable network and system vendors and service providers
- Contribution to technology guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Assist as required with desktop engineering and system/operations administration efforts
- Participation and contribution in all technology-related projects and initiatives
- Rotating emergency on-call schedule (1 week on 6 weeks off)
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A minimum of 5 years in a network/system engineering owner/support role
- Excellent technical knowledge of network and server hardware, operating systems, utilities, and management tools
- Excellent technical knowledge of Azure and Office365
- Excellent technical knowledge of network/system operations and maintenance updates
- Excellent knowledge of networks and client/server technology
- Solid knowledge of firm-wide standard hardware and software (reference standard hardware and software lists)
- Motivated and accountable
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Team player with an operational attitude
- Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new technologies and skills

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with the ability to work from home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Because this position will be handling client information, employees must work from a home office and not a public location during any remote periods.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full Time Position with Benefits Eligibility; M – F, 8:00am – 5:00pm MST, scheduled maintenance windows weekly Sunday 2:00 – 5:00am MST, and after-hours support as required
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s Degree, or 5 years relevant on the job work experience
