Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced test engineer to join a nationwide team of testers, engineers, and logisticians in support of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). SAIC has been a leader in innovation and support of test and evaluation (T&E) within TSA and the Department of Homeland Security missions since the inception of the agency in 2002. SAIC is looking for a motivated, self-starting test engineer logisticians to help progress and evolve TSA’s test and evaluation techniques while making an impact on the safety and security of travelers and officers alike.

The position is full remote, with travel to support test events throughout the US.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform system testing, compile resulting data, analyze and define required changes in deployed equipment
  • Create and modify test procedures for other testers to utilize, perform equipment reviews, identify areas of improvement for test procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements
  • Review test reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards. Prepare final reports and submit on behalf of the team
  • Utilize technical knowledge to provide remote assistance and guidance to deployed test staff with test equipment, procedures, safety requirements, and basic understanding of machinery to be tested
  • Able to utilize technical knowledge to follow test procedures, identify gaps and associated faults, ability to independently and safely work through test situations where instructions may not be completely clear
  • Provide planning and scheduling of personnel to fully support multiple concurrent short-notice tests throughout the country, requiring various levels of test experience, specific system knowledge, and physical location considerations
  • Act as the coordinating point of contact between the test team, local TSA POCs, and system manufacturers, ensuring appropriate scheduling, planning, and notification throughout a test event process
  • Support equipment deployment, logistics, and designs required for the test and evaluation of standard and specialized inspection equipment
  • Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Ability to work under general supervision, while being able to carry out directions, work independently, and guide more junior staff in the execution of their efforts
  • The ability to work with a variety of individuals from various backgrounds, as well as interact with teammates, government customers, and third party manufacturers and integrators
  • Ability to maintain safety while navigating through construction zones, loading docks, around heavy machinery, busy airports, and sensitive inspection equipment while handing and moving test equipment up to 100lbs

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience required
  • A strong technical and/or engineering background
  • Strong customer relations interpersonal skills
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to successfully pass a TSA background check prior to employment


Target salary range: $55,001 - $65,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
